Begin with a real workflow
Choose one business process, such as quotation to payment, and map how work moves between people today. Record exceptions as well as the usual path. This creates a useful starting point for deciding what to configure and what needs additional work.
Define a focused first phase
Separate essential launch requirements from later improvements. A smaller phase is easier to validate and gives users time to become confident before the scope grows. Assign an owner to every important decision and data source.
Prepare data before importing it
Review customer, product and opening-balance data for duplicates, missing values and inconsistent formats. Agree which historical records need to move and which can remain in an accessible archive. Reconcile totals after each trial import.
Rehearse with the people who do the work
Ask users to complete representative tasks in staging. Check permissions, reports and unusual cases, and keep a visible list of issues. A launch decision should reflect business acceptance as well as technical readiness.
